In fact, according to the Council of Communications, “Preference to certain types of music could be correlated or associated with certain behaviors.” Due to the lack of censorship in society, people of all ages are constantly exposed to different types of music that provide immoral messages. Unfortunately, large amounts of music in today’s society talks about sex, drugs, and killing people, all which provide immoral concepts in the brains of developing adolescents. This statement, however, is contradicted by the positive and healthy effects provided by other appropriate styles of music. As shown on the American Music Therapy Association, studies have shown that exposure to music displaying a positive message will convince people to live positive lives as well. It is important to shield people from the bad aspects shown in specific genres of music, but its flaws do not compare with the greatness people accomplish through the healthy genres of music.
