The Importance Of Self Reflection Process

Initially I was a bit concerned about the self-reflection process and how I would go about it because I’m not, what I perceive, to be a professional writer. I felt that it was geared toward someone with a professional background and not someone like myself, who’s just seeking to advance in my professional career as a business executive. At the beginning of this semester when I read the syllabus, my thought was this shouldn’t be difficult; however, as we continued through the assignments, I realized that I didn’t know as much as I initially thought. The course learning objective of “read, write, and analyze a variety of texts produced for multiple purposes, audiences, and genres in their field,” (Welch, 2016) was something that appear simple …show more content…
(Welch, 2016) Self-reflecting isn’t something that I’ve done a lot in my lifetime on purpose. Every so often I perform this task in thought but never had I taking the time to do this in writing. I found it to be an opportunity for me to document my process, see my initial thought process vs. my mindset and identify how I may have progressed since writing the reflection document. The reflection document allows me to add a personal reflection on the meaning of some of my previous though processes and emotions in a way that it to express myself to others. One of the most difficult parts of this course for me was to analyze other peer assignment and provide feedback. I wanted to make sure that I gave them good feedback because I wanted the same in return. I believe that this part of the process made each document stronger and more detailed because of the peer feedback. As such, I felt compelled to provide the best feedback that I was able to do so that my peer gets the advantage needed to submit a good result. One thing I recall from my A-3 assignment draft was that I neglected to alphabetize my citations and thanks to Brandon, I was able to make that correction. I have taken away from this course the ability to identify a specific genre that I’m targeting and compose a message so that it’s geared towards that audience in a way that they understand. I’ve learned a concept that I wasn’t familiar with previously, including understanding how to analyze a variety of text, recursive reading, and most importantly research processes to participate in the meaning-making. This is the most significant to me because of my current position in my industry in which I am responsible for taking the vision and purpose of the organization and getting my staff on board easily. Making sure that the employees understand our community by providing clear and concise documentation make it stronger and improve on streamlining processes to make better business
