16 snap-lock bags were labelled with the name of the group, the name of the seed species (either Rocket Salad or Ferocactus histrix and the GA concentration with 2 bags per concentration. 2 pieces of paper towel were placed inside each bag. 10 seeds that were appropriate to the label of the bag were spread in between the two paper towels. Each towel was wet with 3 mL of GA solution appropriate to the label on the bag. A pipette was used to prevent contaminating the seeds and to prevent from touching the GA solution. The bags were sealed and placed on the table under the light in Studio 6. Bags were checked daily (excluding weekends), number of germinated seeds were recorded in the table in the appropriate spot and any seeds that have germinated were removed from the bag with forceps. …show more content…
GA solution had the fastest rate of germination, followed by 1000 ppm., 125 ppm. and the control group.
Ferocactus histrix
During the 18 days of the experiment, not all of the seeds of the Ferocactus histrix have germinated. 95% of the seeds have germinated in the control group, 90% have germinated in the 1000 ppm. group, 85% have germinated in the 500 ppm. group, and only 80% have germinated in the 125 ppm (refer to Table 1). Therefore, the sum of the percentage of seeds that have germinated over the 18 days will be used for analysis.
The class data had a similar issue, as not all of the seeds have germinated in the 18-day time frame. The 125 ppm. had the highest seed germination as 84.23% of the seeds have germinated, followed by 500 ppm. GA solution at 78.57% of seeds, 0 ppm. solution at 76.07% of seeds, and 1000 ppm. with the lowest seed germination of 69.29% of seeds (refer to Table 2). The results cannot be made into a different table to only fit the first 69.29% of the data, thus the sum of the percentage of seeds that have germinated over the 18 days will be used for
