We gave examples of people who bypassed the security system of the PS3 and Xbox 360. However, the ways that the hacking is done is more complex than just creating a homebrew program or using ‘mod’. When it comes to hacking, there are two ways to hack a console. A person can either do a software attack or a physical attack (Eric DeBusschere). Software attacks are when a person takes advantage of a hole in the console or a third party, that manufactured games with a security problem. Until 2011, the main exploit used for the Xbox 360 was from a direct memory issue exposed by unchecked shaders in Peter Jackson’s King Kong game (Eric DeBusschere). Software attacks was used for years until companies made it extremely hard to break the security measures …show more content…
They released the Super Nintendo system, it was a 16-bit video game console (MacNeil). They went on to make the SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Advanced, Nintendo DS, 3DS, etc. (MacNeil). As the game came out, hackers are always there to find holes in the system to exploit the game and use it to the consumer’s benefit. All the game from the 1990s to the early 2000s were all easy to hack, however, as technology advance, the piracy protection increases also. Although, Nintendo is not as well protected as the PlayStation, and the Xbox. The Nintendo is exploitable through the use of an SD card running a certain program called Sudokuhax, this program is only one of many ways to make the console free of use (Fitzpatrick). But Nintendo have made a new firmware that can prevent hackers from finding an exploit for the DS (Fitzpatrick). Fortunately, the 10.7 firmware can patch all the exploitable access through an SD card. This include the Team Twiizer’s release of the DSi-mode exploit called Sudokuhax that loads homebrew from the SD card in DSi-mode using a purchased Sudoku app. The new firmware checks all the program and similar to the PS4 firmware. Once it finds an unrecognized program, it reports that program and in some cases, if it recognized the program as an exploiter. It will ban the consoles from online gaming for a certain amount of time or permanently depending on the type console used. Nintendo is planning on releasing a new console called Nintendo Switch, this new system is likely going to have a new type security. Since the most of the old Nintendo console all had weak security system, this new console is more likely to make a new console that would have a brand-new type of security that may match both the PS4 and the Xbox one. The Gamer’s dilemma, a term coined by Morgan Luck (2009), outlines the predicament faced by gamer’s when asked to acknowledge why the ethics of virtual killing is deemed morally permissible, whilst virtual paedophilia is considered morally prohibited. This dilemma prompts an analysis of the acceptance of the immoral act of virtual killing and question why virtual paedophilia is wrong in a gaming context. I will argue that there are not enough moral discrepancies between virtual killing and virtual paedophilia to suggest that virtual paedophilia should be socially rejected, whilst killing accepted, therefore both must be allowed. I will evaluate two arguments to support the premise of my thesis. Firstly, I will assess the claim that no living human being is harmed in the process of a virtually immoral act.…

Video games are a safe haven for people and gamers alike. They provide refuge from the burdens of everyday life — a virtual simulation where everything can be molded and be manipulated to the desires of its wielder’s hands; freedom on their own terms, all within the bounds of the virtual context. However, when real-life laws and its permissible consequences extend beyond reality and into realms whose entirety is made up of intangible pixels, things can become quite problematic. In his text, “Should Gamers Be Prosecuted for Virtual Stealing?”, author Alex Weiss constructs a compelling argument against real-world laws intervening in virtual dimensions through his demonstration of ethos, logos, connotative diction, and a candid rebuttal. First,…

Regardless of whether a game is made in the beginning when the console first came out, or a month before the next generation of that console is released, the game will still run flawlessly. In addition, the CPU in all new consoles is from AMD. This means gamers that are devoted to Intel processors, are out of luck. Both the Xbox One and the PS4 are built using an 8-core Jaguar processor and are clocked between 1.6 GHz and 1.7 GHz. This means they can complete about one and a half billion cycles each second (Lendino,…

“Should Gamers be Prosecuted for Virtual Stealing?” By Alex Weiss Textual Analysis Alex Weiss, a graduate from Arizona State University, wrote this essay on virtual theft for his Work and Play in Contemporary Fiction/Digital Media class. It was later published in the online magazine Slate (Bullock and Goggin 731). Weiss is clearly an educated writer, but refrains from fairly acknowledging the other side of his argument: that gamers should not be prosecuted for virtual theft.…

I think eletronic voting machines should be used because its easier to arrange with all the voters in the united states . and everyone uses eletronics now because paper form voting isn't in style nomore its way more funer and simple than to keep writing down a name , and then sending it off when you could simply click one button and it send your vote off right away. Using the eletronic machines may help with different things like people who speaks different languages, the machine have different choices of languages to choose from , and it can also help disable voters like the ones who can't write or can't spell .the machine may have headphone access where they can hear the different names to vote for and they just click it so nobody knows who their voting for .…
