The United States president Barack Obama said that “the US sought a just and sustainable international order which included an UN that was ‘efficient, effective, credible and legitimate’” and expressed his support for India’s ambition for a permanent seat by saying, “That is why I can say today in the years ahead I look forward to a reformed United Nations Security Council that includes India as a permanent member” (Qatar News Agency). The US spoke about it’s support for Japan as well and France continues to support Germany’s bid. Though a number of countries have proposed resolutions to reform the Security Council, in order to change such a big part of the UN, all five members must agree which is highly unlikely because that would result in them losing
