Sleep! Why is sleep so important to get every night? Sleep is important in many ways. Sleeping at night or taking a nap during the day can have many benefits on your memory, energy level, and more. Different ages need different amounts of sleep each night, so smaller children need more sleep than grown adults. Sleep can effect us in many way that we may not even notice. Although you don’t think sleep is that important, it really is. It provides many different things throughout the day to help people function better. As said in “How Much Sleep is Enough?”, “Sleeping when your body is ready is also very important. Sleep deficiency can affect people even when they sleep the total amount of hours recommended for their age group.” This shows that when your body starts to feel tired or starts to shut down, it’s important to rest for at least a couple of minutes. The recommended amount of sleep for teens is nine to ten hours a day, so if the teen only gets seven hours, they would need to take a short nap to gain some of that energy back. …show more content…
If you are sleep-deprived, your brain didn’t get as much rest as it needed so it may start to shut down. In “The Secret Truth about Napping”, it says “The main takeaway seems to be that deep sleep, whether its night time sleep or daytime naps, primes the brain to function at a higher level. This allows us to come up with better ideas, find solutions to puzzles more quickly, identify patterns faster, and recall information more accurately.” This shows that the more rest you get, the better your brain can remember things. If a school aged children recommended amount of sleep is at least ten hours a day, and they only get eight, they wouldn’t do as well in school as they need
