Essay On The Secret In The Attic

The Secret in the Attic For a week, temperatures had reached the mid nighties, hotter than Eugene, Oregon had seen in 30 years. People stayed inside next to their air conditioners catching up on their favorite shows on netflix. Twin sisters, Jade and Morgan were no exception, they had spent the start of their summer inside watching tv instead of going out with their friends.
On the hottest day of the summer it reached 114 degrees, which caused all the power in town to shut off.
“What happened?” Jade asked. “Why did the power go out?”
“The power went out on the entire block,” Morgan stated.
“I’m not sitting here in the heat, let 's go find the battery powered fans from the attic.”
The girls proceded up the stairs into their attic. Rummaging

Jade and Morgan walked away frustrated, determined to find out the mystery of Brinley. As they started to walk out of the hospital they were stopped by their close family friend, Dr. Montgomery.
“What are you girls doing here?” asked the Dr.
The girls looked at each other exchanging looks, trying to decide if they should confide in Dr. Montgomery or not. “Well actually you may be able to help us,” Jade said nervously. “We want to know more about Brinley…” “Oh okay, you girls probably should come into my office,” Dr. Montgomery said quietly, directing them towards her office.
Dr. Montgomery proceeded to tell Jade and Morgan about her and their mothers mutual friend Karen, who was single and wanted a child and had paid their mother to be a surrogate. She then went on to explain that she had become pregnant with triplets, but Karen only wanted one child so their mother kept the two of them because she too wanted kids and didn 't want to see the girls put up for adoption. “So where is Brinley now?” Jade and Morgan asked simultaneously. “Karen and Brinley live in Seattle, Washington now, they moved there a month after you girls were born,” the doctor

When they got home Morgan immediately went to her room and Jade followed shutting the door behind her. “We have to go find her,” Jade said quietly to her sister, just incase their parents were home. “But how?” Morgan asked. “We don’t even know what part of Seattle she lives in we just know that she lives there, she 's 17, and her moms name is Karen.” “We also know she 's our sister,” Jade added. “And don 't you want to meet her and find out what she 's like, come on how many Brinley 's could there possibly be in Seattle?”
Jade and Morgan proceeded to come up with a plan to contact their sister, they looked her up on social media until they found an email address they could use. Jade wrote the email to Brinley explaining that she was her sister and that she and Morgan wanted to meet her. The next day when Jade woke up there was a reply. Brinley had written that she too wanted to meet and suggested that Jade and Morgan drive up to Seattle and meet at the park Saturday night at midnight. “Should we go?” Morgan asked her sister. “I think we should, if we don 't we will regret it,” Jade

Jacqueline, or Dr. Black, was one of the multiple people who Pearson met who strongly believed in the importance of standing by their patients through difficult times. By the time Jacqueline’s patient, Gloria was found to have cervical cancer, she had already had her phone number. Pearson writes about how some doctors, like Jacqueline, choose to make doctoring the main focus of their life. While the workdays of many doctors ended as soon as they left the office, Jacqueline spent her time convincing St. Vincent’s House to fund Gloria’s CT scan, driving Gloria to Houston to apply for charity care, and continuously comforting her through their struggle to find a treatment. This way of practicing medicine is seen as wrong by some doctors and even Pearson thinks that some doctors get too involved with their patients.…
