The Secret Life Of Bees Theme Essay

Adventure seemed to follow the characters in the novel The Secret Life of Bees. The author did a wonderful job of making a great story as well as important lessons, or themes. The progression throughout this piece of literature gradually display the lessons learned were important to understanding the events that occurred. In understanding the lessons some may have seemed more important or less important than others.Though all of the themes were important in their own way one in particular stood out. The theme that stood out was the resilience of the human spirit. For one thing, Lily had been put through several situation that could have destroyed her spirit. It seemed that most of the issues she dealt with changed her a as she seemed to mature every time she faced an issue. In the beginning she feared T-Ray which stopped her from acting against him but she grew up. Which all lead to the end when she stood up for herself against T-Ray. Although Lily’s mother was dead, she was strong while she was alive. She had to deal with T-Ray for Lily’s sake but never let that stop her from being strong. Even though her mother did leave for a while she still came back to get Lily. Lily’s mom didn’t have the same feelings for T-Ray like she had before but she still cared for Lily. Simply by the descriptions Lily got from the sister her mom was a strong willed person. T-Ray had a weak spirit unlike Lily’s mom who had a very resilient and strong spirit in which she used to run away from T-Ray.The pure emotional strength shows how strong and resilient her spirit was to leave her own daughter, even for a short time. Her resilience led to her daughter becoming just as strong as she was and showed how resilient their spirits are. Human resilience is highly prominent in Lily’s
