The Second Coming Home Analysis

Il walked in on Sheridan and Sue whining about Bec not being at work. Carter was sick at the time. Sheridan has had days off to take her boyfriend to appointments! Sheridan will often leave working after school care even though she is supposed to stay until 5:45, leaving no one in charge. Sue told me that at her last OSHC, the Director did nothing when she came back from maternity leave and she had to do all the work. I think that this has led her to judge Bec harshly. Bec works just as hard now than before maternity leave.

Power group : Sue, Sheridan, Ashleigh,
Sue tells staff they are wonderful and eventually starts tearing them apart/ gossiping to Sheridan about them. I have heard Sue and Sheridan bitch about Ashleigh behind her back.
Sue is addicted to drama. There is a drama of the day, and if there is no drama she will find a drama whine about . It is usually about someone or something that happened at OSHC. It could be something from home, OSHC parents or leadership from the other school OSHC she works at. She even

I came into work kept to myself and counted down the days until Bec came back. Sue and Sheridan wouldn't let me shop therefore I couldn't escape OSHC. I kept a resignation letter in my bag in case things got too bad to me to handle.

I think that Sue Sheridan and Ashleigh behaviour negatively impacts the service as they are more interested in chatting to each other then looking after the children properly. In Vac care, when Bec isn't in Sheridan often puts movies on (there were three on Thursday!). Sheridan will often open up the computer room in vac care so she can chat with staff. She often in the kitchen chatting with Ashleigh, Kendall or Sue.
I have worked at OSHC for seven years and the group dynamics are at its worst I have seen. I believe that all staff need to be spoken to one on one about Sue and Sheridan's behaviour as it directly effects everyone and will continue to do so.

This credible effort by William Tuttle explored the important issues or influences that involved in the families of the men who were sent off to war. Tuttle fascinates us with the many diverse circumstances the families had to endure before and after the father’s came home from war. Tuttle also discusses throughout war the many issues that the families suffered such as mothers having to take on both roles, depression of the children, the neglected children during this time period, and the increased role of the older children to watch over the younger ones. Although the mother had a very important and influential role in the children’s lives during this war, Tuttle does a well-thought-of job to display the hardships the families suffered without the fathers being around.…

In The Deportation of Wopper Barraza by Maceo Montoya, the author tells a story about Wopper Barraza, who is suddenly forced to live in a culture where he has no prior experience. In Make Your Home Among Strangers by Jennine Capó Crucet, the author describes how the main character, Lizet, enters a strange new setting, and goes through self growth, as a result of the waning absence of her family. The two stories coincide due to their common theme of leaving home and trying to make it without their dysfunctional families, while paving the way towards self discoverment. Both characters go through the process of self discovery in different ways as well as producing different outcomes, but the message is still clear. Home does not have to be where your family is, it is the place where people feel they belong.…

This semester, I have seen numerous of productions that were enjoyable and at the same time, shared a common theme towards the end of the play which was there ticket towards freedom. The two productions I thought resemble this includes Father Comes Home from the Wars and the Royale. These two productions had a common connection of racism moments when they were trying to reach freedom. The main character in each of the productions had a difficult time stepping out of their comfort zones due to the lack of confidence they had and both of the theaters had the proper lights and props to represent the characters.. Father Comes Home from the Wars is a play written by Suzen- Lori Parks that was performed at the Royal Court Theatre.…

In 2006, Suzan-Lori Parks wrote a short story named Father Comes Home From the Wars. Parks was the daughter of an army colonel and moved frequently as a child. This story is about the interactions between the soldiers and their families right after they comes home from the war. What confused me the most is that the whole story is very vague and not that many details of what is happening. I believe that Parks chose to lack in details to connect to more people around that world and show that coming after the war is not always happy.…

The readings on socioeconomic class talk about the inequality within institutions. To be specific, Duffy and Mandell’s reading talks about the cycle of poverty, with the different perspectives of welfare and whose “worthy” to receive it without the title of laziness or irresponsible attached to it, plus the physical and emotional strain it has on individuals and those around them. Duffy and Mandell also expand on the role of women and the inequality within the workplace. Mooney goes into depth about the myths and realities of welfare and the perspectives individuals hold towards those who are in lower and higher classes. Mooney also talks about the discreteness in the topic of class because majority of Canadians are in the middle class,…

Yes, I would as Sherry’s supervisor I would use more of a competition -style approach of management toward her, because to receive a call from Elizabeth in regards to such an issue would need immediate action to remind her of the mission of the hospital informing her that her first priority is to give adequate care to the patients no matter how these services are being funded. Informing her of my concerns in regards to a call that I received reminding her that as an employee of the administration she should be behind whatever organizational changes that the company deems necessary. That in the near future if she feels as though she needs to voice or express her concerns please do so in more of a professional manner within the confines of the department by talking to her direct supervisor and not the confines of other employees within the hospital or just to keep it to herself, because it causes unnecessary conflicts within the organization that services the patients and we are trying to avoid these types of…

The limitations of my interviewee’s experience included the dismissal of requests by the kitchen staff, however, he was satisfied with all the other aspects of care that he received and agreed that it must be difficult for all staff working in hospitals to grant all of the requests presented by patients. Personally, I believe that staff working in a hospital should be able to prioritise requests such as these, to ensure that all patients are comfortable and happy whilst staying in the facilities. If it had not of been for his family, my interviewee would have really struggled to eat, which may have lead to him not eating at all due to it being so difficult. 116 When asked about his recommendations to improve the Australian healthcare system,…

There is no real authority figure when she is gone. Also the language barriers need to be settled up, there is a Sushi Chef that really doesn’t like to speak English, the kitchen staff that speaks Japanese, and the busser and dishwashers only speak Spanish. With everyone else able to speak English. It seems like a melting pot with huge language barriers. The kitchen staff seem to have no guidance or a problem with authority figures because they run the kitchen basically how they want to with no regards to Sue Lee.…

    1. Figure 4.3, Going Home by Jacob Lawrence. This piece was created in 1946, and was painted with gouache, which is an opaque type of watercolor. I personally did not like this piece, I’m not a fan of the medium used, but nevertheless I found it interesting.
