Ender’s Game Adaptation Movie Review Gavin Hood’s Adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game is an adventurous thrill ride. Ender Wiggin played by Asa Butterfield, is a third that was not really appreciated for being the third child in his family, a third that ended up being a successful recruit for the Battle School, where Ender is being pushed to his breaking point with all of the lies they are feeding him. It seems this movie took a lot of time and effort to create, with all of the scenes and technology upgrades. This movie is a good adaptation to the book because it brings all of the action moments in the book to the screen.…

"Wanted" is basically from a comic book that has limited series written by Mark Miller and J.G Jones, it is about an amoral protagonist (Wesley Gibson) who is discovered as the heir of super assassin. Russian director, Timur Bekmambetov, he is the cream of the crop, he turns this comic into a movie that make the viewers not sit still and make their adrenaline and cortisone levels spike with the actions. Bekmambetov used the similar style of shots and angles with his previous movie, Night watch. It's more to wide angle (long shot), so we can see the terrifying background like one of the scenes in the torture room, where Wes has been beaten up by the butcher. Not even that, there are many special effects that Bekmambetov applies in this movie, like slow-motion with sound effects that certainly provides that "ouch" reaction from audiences.…

Paul Chaat Smith’s essay “The Big Movie,” which appears in The Norton Mix, addresses the question of why western movies portray the American Indian in the manner they do. Smith, who is a member of the Comanche tribe, looks at western films from the perspective of Indians. He provides a brief history of the American western movie, along with historical information about how and why Indians appear as they do in movies. He concludes with the observation that unless they appear within what Smith calls the master narrative, Indians simply do not belong in U.S. history. Indians continue to appear within the master narrative because that is where people naturally expect them to be, because of stereotypical treatment by society, and appearing in any…

Finding Neverland is the story of J. M. Barrie, a playwright, who finds inspiration for the play Peter Pan through the four Davies boys and their mother Sylvia. Besides the fact that Johnny Depp is possibly one of the greatest actors of our time, this is a splendid film. Barrie needs inspiration for his next play and finds it while playing with all four of the Davies boys as they use their imagination. The editing in this movie helps show the viewer not only the reality of their pretending but also what their pretending looks like in their imagination. I found this to be the most interesting display of editing in the film.…
