In a world where everything must be donned “good” or “bad’, one has to ask the obvious question, is the science and experimentation in the novel Frankenstein good or bad? Victor Frankenstein sets a precedent of what not to do when you want to perform a science experiment. For this creature to be constructed out of absolutely nothing, Frankenstein must had to “desire it with an ardor that far exceeded moderation” which is unnecessary (p. 45). When someone wants something that bad, it needs to be planned out and organized, not thrown together with no regard to the safety of others. He would often yearn to dive into it to cleanse himself of the responsibility of Justine and William’s death. He would wish to become one within nature because it was beautiful and calm, opposite of what Victor thought of himself, a man riddled with guilt and fear. The creature, in a similar state of loneliness and depression, wandered throughout the forest regaining “pleasure, that had long appeared dead, revive within me…forgetting my solitude and deformity, dared to be happy” (Shelley 129).
