The Scottsboro Trial had a big impact on her life when she was a child, and this was reflected in her book, To Kill A Mockingbird. The Scottsboro boys were nine African Americans who were accused of raping two white women, Victoria Price and Ruby Bates. All nine except the youngest 13 years old boy were sentenced to death on the first trial, later the case was appealed to the supreme court. Samuel Leibowitz, a Jewish lawyer from the North was appointed to defend the boys. He stood up for them and believed in what he’s fighting for.
