I feel so ashamed, so, so damned ashamed. How can my body betray me? Pleasure in the midst of an assault? How is this shit even possible? Salty tears rolls down my face. I wrap my legs around his waist and dig my nails into his back holding on for dear life. My core tighten, contracts, threatens to snap his monstrous appendage. I see stars bright beautiful magnificent stars. I quake, brain turns to mush. I die a thousand little deaths.I experience what has to be the most earth shattering orgasm known to man. I bite down on my bottom lip damn near drawing blood. I refuse to give my rapist the satisfaction of hearing me moan. I’m beyond pissed at his violation even more so at myself for reacting.

“Uh huh bitch you aren’t no different

I am tempted to upchuck all over his face but the cold steel he holds underneath my chin makes me rethink that idea. I need to get home to my mother and little brother in one piece so I opt to endure the trauma. I close my eyes wishes to be teleported to another dimension, another time zone somewhere other than here.

“All I asked for was one date but you acted as if you were too good to fuck with a nigga” he berates me. “This could have all been avoided if you weren’t so damn stuck up” he continues.

I look at this fool as if he has just sprouted a 3rd eye ball. In no way was this fool serious. He just couldn’t have been. No means fucking no! I don’t care how much money this nigga has. if I’m not feeling you, tough just move on. It’s as simple as that. He tries kissing me. I turn my head and he snickers

“You just need some act right girl and I’m going to be the one to give it to you”

He roughly sucks on my neck then began to forcefully pound into me. Bang, bang, bang! my exposed back hits up against the brick wall harshly. I am sure it’ll leave bruises in the morning because my tank top provides limited protection. Bang, bang, bang! he shows me no mercy. He now holds the shiny death maker in his hand above our heads. I pray it’ll somehow go off. If I am lucky the bullet would ricochet off of the building and pierce Him smack dab in the middle of his skull. Violate his body the same he has violated me. I wish him death.

It is in that way - forehead to forehead, hips aligned instinctively, heaving chests and groans of hunger and desire - that I crash and fall, everything I know up to that moment falling away from me while he races to his end just after me. He presses his face into her shoulder and crumbles as our bodies offer up shudder after shudder of release until all that remains is a quivering suspension of movement and then silence. I run my fingers through his damp curls, the smell of sweat mingling with the various aromas of the candles – vanilla and pumpkin that is intertwined with the lingering salt…

I would like to start off by thanking Angeley Marte for taking the time to let me interview her. This conversation was very difficult to discuss due to the fact that she had to speak on personal trauma which took effect on her career choice. Angeley is currently studying psychology at the Johnson and Wales Providence Downcity Campus, but she also wants to pursue a law career. Being raised in a very traditional Dominican home, her mother’s ideals were very different from others. When Angeley was around the age of seven she lived in an apartment with her mother and older brother in the Bronx.…

The Mental Health of Men Introduction Throughout history, men have been seen as superior in all ways to women, and this harmful stereotype still plays a role in today’s society. However, it wasn’t until recent times that the idea of mental disorders and health has been feminized and men’s mental health has largely been ignored (1). When referring to mental disorders and health, this is an encompassing term that refers to both affective and behavioral disorders that are patterned in both men and women (1). Although there has been some debate throughout history about empirical mental differences between men and women, it is proven that both sexes are capable of being diagnosed with the same mental disorders. Male and female victims…

Everyone today has heard of at least one rape story. And if a citizen has only heard of one story, they must rarely keep up with current events in society. Whether it came from the victim her/himself or on the local news, its no surprise the rate at which this specific crime is occurring. The shocking news is, however, the number one location rape happens today is on college campuses nationwide (Parent, 2010). If so many rapes occur on a weekly or even daily basis, why are the majority of them not being reported?…

Although many people in the United States believe that sexual assault is not a major problem within our social atmosphere, the reality is that sexual assault is a serious social and public health issue today. Furthermore, sexual victimization is commonly associated with a wide range of short and long-term physiological consequences. According to national surveys, one in six women will experience attempted or completed rape at some time throughout their life. Despite the resources available to victims such as rape kits, RAINN, crisis support, and counseling, our judicial system continually places blame on the victims since they brought this unfortunate consequence upon themselves. Due to this, in the United States alone only 5-50% of sexual…
