The Scorch Trials: Thomas And The Glade

Improved Essays
In the novel The Scorch Trials, it starts off with an intense flashback when Thomas and his crew escaped the Glade. They solved the Maze and got rescued by a corrupt government-like organization known as Wicked. They took the escapees to this large building in the middle of nowhere, and the technology there was off the charts. They have been running experiments on humans, and the stuff they are doing is crazy. The group of kids is now put to another test, the real world has fallen to pieces and there is a worldwide disease spreading known as the Flare. The objective of this mission is to cross the biggest and worst terrain, the Scorch. This large wasteland consists of a location filled with Cranks, crazy blood gushing zombie-looking people; and a mountain range. Thomas and the team have to get past the mountain range. In the end, Thomas and the Gladers get into a huge bloody fight against the Cranks. The trial ends with a Berg …show more content…
What they didn’t realize was the amount of skills he brought forward to the team, and his capability to learn things very quickly. In my opinion Thomas was meant to be a runner, he has a big build and is very strong. You have to be the opposite of phlegmatic to be a runner, and he was exactly that. In The Maze Runner, there were only three boys allowed to run in the maze. Now that the whole team is put to a new test, they are trained to be long distance runners and able to defend themselves. The Scorch was a wasteland terrain that spread for miles and miles; you never know what is going to jump in front of your face when you are rounding a corner. This trial is a much harder mission than getting through the maze: “phase two, the Scorch Trials.” (Dashner 15) I can evaluate Thomas in two words: strong and dedicated. He is always the one motivating people that they can do it, and always thinks positively even when things are not going so
