History is the actions that have been created in the past by people. We have learned that people can continue to do the right thing because of history. The quote from Aldous Huxley stating “that men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons of history” does not prove this. I disagree with this quote because we have created a better society by learning from the past. If we did not learn anything, we would have never gotten to where we are now. History has allowed us to become what we are because of the positive impacts. Although history has had negative impacts to mankind, it has been positive to mankind through the Scientific Revolution, Industrial Revolution, and Second Industrial Revolution. The Scientific Revolution has had positive impacts from the discoveries of Galileo, Newton, and Copernicus. Inventions such as the Spinning Jenny and Steam Engine, changes in the coal and iron industry, and the idea of Puddling are examples of this. The Spinning Jenny and Steam Engine were both creations that allowed cotton to be produced faster. The Spinning Jenny made weaving faster and the Steam Engine enabled the engine to drive machinery faster. After these were developed, the coal and the iron industries changed since the Steam Engine depended on coal and was also made of iron. Puddling was created as a result and this was a process that used coke, which was derived from coal, to burn away impurities in crude iron, called pig iron, to produce an iron of high quality. Numerous other inventions and ideas were created that had positive impacts, but the Spinning Jenny and Steam Engine, advances in the coal and iron industry, and the idea of Puddling were the most prominent.
