It was also a way to expand on other ideas. Although the people of the clergy did try to spread the ideas of religion, it did not work as they planned it to be. Instead, it was used in spreading the ideas of culture or mostly known as humanism. Humanism was an educational art system where human works were valued. By using the printing press it was more efficient in producing books. From using the printing press, it provided people a way to communicate with spreading ideas, allowed people to be educated, and allowed more job opportunities. Which enabled the spreading of more knowledge to the people, key to a revival and development. The photograph depicts an arrow which points where Columbus's Letter went around the areas of Europe (Document 17). Columbus's letter was sent to various locations around Europe, which was where his letter was posted and then published in different languages around the regions of Europe. It was sent from the start at Lisbon, Spain; then Barcelona, Spain; Valladolid, Spain; then Rome, Italy; Florence, Italy. Then it went to Basel, then to Antwerp. This painting shows a poised woman with her mysterious smile which was what made this painting famous. The landscape had some greenery, but the plants and trees were blurred focusing on the woman in the picture (Leonardo da Vinci, Document 5). The famous Leonardo da Vinci painted this masterpiece, that is known today as the Mona Lisa. Painted in 1503, Leonardo da Vinci was a Renaissance artist in Italy. His painting of the Mona Lisa was really lionized and showcased a variety of art techniques used in the Renaissance. From the art styles and techniques used in the Renaissance, it showed significant improvement in technique for painting. Unlike older techniques such as the Middle Ages, the techniques used were very displeasing to the eye. The art style used in this piece was a vanishing point, the pyramid shape of the human figure, better proportions, chiaroscuro, the idea is highly secular, and that it looked more realistic. From the usage of different techniques and a different display of meaning in the arts, showcases that the arts can be used for art and for enjoyment. The image depicts a "Zodiac Man" which shows twelve different signs that are branching off the human's body. Ten of them are branching out of the human, while the other two were by the human.
