Throughout my life God has given me many delightful and fantastic friends, but when I consider who I ought to call my ‘best friend,’ my mind specifically turns to Skylar. However, one must ask why. What transforms a friend into a best friend? For me personally, trustworthiness, kindness, determination, and loyalty define what makes a true friend. However, a best friend requires not only all of those traits, but also time and love. Not the romantic, sappy love, but the love that comes through shared experiences, triumphs, failures, and joys. Supporting this point, Writer Lauren Martin compares a friend to an ally in her article on the Science of Friendship.
