Both Blacks/African-Americans come from Africa. But the African-Americans has been here a longtime for so many generations. Now some Blacks come from African, Caribbean or the West Indies. In whatever country, state or city this group come from, according to CDC report, the 10 common leading diseases among the Blacks are “heart diseases, cancer, kidneys diseases, homicide, sepsis, stroke, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases and Alzheimer’s disease,”( CDC, 2010).Other diseases like hypertension, HIV/AIDS, smoking and tobacco use are also common among the Blacks. Also most African-Americans/Blacks are illiterate because of the high dropout rate in schools because of poor conditions of teaching and no motivations to the kids is rendered. This contributes in failure of seeking preventive care. They are a lot of preventive care programs about chronic diseases and unhealthy behaviors but they do not seek them because of lack of knowledge.
