The my food plate was the USDA and michelle obama 's response to the food pyramid. The my food plate was designed to show an ideal image of what your place setting should contain. It contained the 5 food groups and was published in all schools across america.

Even though schools get extra funding for participating some schools decide that they do not want to participate. If school lunches improve students health then why would you not participate in the school lunch program. The answer differs from school to school. Some say they do not want the government controlling every aspect of their lives and some say they want to please the students. Please the students by giving them access to sodium enriched sugar packed meals that is slowly destroying their health and thereby their future.
