ABSTRACT
Every public school in the Philippines is mandated to have a three-year School Improvement Plan (SIP). It is a document which embodies what a school wants to achieve and the manner with which to achieve it. Mission and Vision, which the SIP contains, are one of the essential parts of the SIP. It contains the profile of the school and the community, problems and needs, goals, objectives, standards and targets, implementation plan, monitoring and evaluation plan, communication and advocacy plan, documentation and reporting to stakeholders and signatories. It is translated into an Annual Implementation Plan. The SIP serves as the major basis of the Division Education Development Plan (DEDP).
The Mission and Vision, which the SIP contains, are one of the essential parts of the SIP. Our school Vision is “Maulawin National High School a preferred School of socially active, knowledgeable and skillful students” while our Mission is “To provide among its clienteles basic quality education accessible to all through relevant curriculum implemented by competent teachers supported by stakeholders”. The very question or problem arise is what are some targeted, specific and doable action that we need to takein order to improve the current state of our school to help us realize our vision and mission in three years’ time.
The significance of the Mission and Vision is to see the statement not as a simply words or phrases that are required by the higher authorities instead it should be seen as working statement which are important in continuing development of the school as dynamic organization.
