Roger Chillingworth's Revenge In Scarlet Letter

On that fateful day, the old physician had discovered nothing other than a smaller incarnation of the infamous Scarlet Letter. Roger Chillingworth, with his new found knowledge began to plot his vengeance upon the seemingly innocent minister, for he now knew the truth of his wife’s scandal and would waste no time bringing it to justice. Such a man as old Chillingworth would not use a justice so simple and shared as a public punishment, no matter how harsh. Nay, he would plot his own more personal and twisted revenge, conceived from his own adultery with the devil. As the parents viewed the child, they both realized something was very, very wrong.
