Because pride can easily dictate the course of one’s actions, one may wonder whether the effect of this trait would justify its mean. In James Hurst’s “The Scarlet Ibis”, a story that depicts a tragic truth of a boy who, empowered by his pride, trains his invalid brother inevitably to his death. Through this tragic incident, one can conclude that pride is a double-edged sword, it not only brings life and hope, but similarly also beckons for demise.
