In particular, when Doodle had begun to walk normally and frequently Brother wanted to make a program for Doodle before he was enrolled in school. This program included teaching Doodle to run, swim, climb trees, and fight. This was far beyond learning to stand just a few years ago, but masked under a self-centered mindset Brother did this for his own gain, not Doodles, “ (He) made him swim until he turned blue and row until he couldn’t lift an oar. Wherever (they) went, (Brother) purposely walked fast… Once, he could go no further, so he collapsed on the ground and began to cry” (350). Brother at this point was not making progress but pushing around his brother with no gain. Later, Brother asks, “‘Aw come on, Doodle. You can Do it. Do you want to be different from everybody at school?’” Doodle replies, “‘Does it make a difference?’”(350). Brother is embarrassed about having Doodle around school because Doodle does not seem to care about his personal image. Brother has transitioned towards an egocentric mindset and will not give Doodle a break just so he can push him to a goal only really achieved by Brother. Brother is not aware of the pressure put on Doodle not to mention the stress he is putting on his body all because he is prideful in his past successes and with his mindset thinks he can pull through. This was not the case when consequently, he fell behind in Brother’s program and Brother made a final push for the day in rowing. Brother made Doodle row oars before dark and before an incoming storm, this pressure wore out Doodle and the storm ascended towards their location with Doodle fatigued and barely standing. Frightened, they both walked home and Brother was picking up the pace. Behind Doodle screams, “Brother, Brother, don’t leave me! Don't
