SWBS Essay: The Cellar (by Natasha Preston)
Somebody: Colin Brown is a thirty year old man, who lives in a town called Long Thorpe. He has short black hair and dark brown eyes. The town he lives in is very small. Most people know everyone living there, but not very many people know Colin. He is a very quiet and standoffish person which is part of the reason why most people don't know him. He is also friendly, but will not speak to anyone unless he is spoken to first. However, most people see him as just an average person. He has a day time job where he works in an office, to support himself. He is always dressed very professionally even on his days off, with his hair very nicely combed to the side. The girls did not want what he wanted, so they fought against him. Most times the girls were too scared of him to do anything but they were not going to live the rest of their lives with him. When Clover would go to work they would come up with different plans and strategies of how to get out of there still alive. They knew if their plan failed they would end up murdered because Clover wouldn’t risk the chances of him getting caught if he knew the girls were trying to escape. One strategie they came up with was Violet would hit Clover on the head with a pan from their kitchen while the other two distracted him. Then once he was unconscious they would grab the keys from his pocket and unlock the cellar door ecsapping before he woke back up. However, when they actually went through with that plan, nothing happened. It did not make Clover unconscious, it only made him mad. He then stabbed Violet in the stomach and left the body for Lily and Poppy to clean up. When he came back to get the body he brought it a ways out from the house but not much. Another thing working against Clover were the people looking for Lily and the other girls. Lily’s brother and boyfriend happened to find the body a couple days later. Clover noticed the boys and went outside to help them so they wouldn’t think it was him. He thought if he helped the boys with the body it would make him look innocent. However, by his actions and the stuff he was saying to the boys it raised
