Prejudice is truly a shameful foible for anyone to possess. The act of being Prejudice is defined as having a predetermined summed (usually wrong and or unreasonable) overlook of a general population without having actual experience within sed population. Prejudices aren't always negative, but, a lot of the times the kinds of people who are prejudice are often looked down upon and occasionally even cast aside from certain societies, sometimes unnecessarily. Most people have some form of prejudice. People can and will often be unknowingly ignorant to different or “strange” populations. For example, people tend to accept false claims that may sound “accurate” because they are not familiar with a topic and want to learn more or are somewhat …show more content…
Many extremely prejudice people find themselves correlating more with an authoritarian personality according to the Authoritarian personality theory. The Authoritarian personality theory is defined as being in a state of mind or attitude characterized by belief in absolute obedience or submission to one's own authority, as well as the administration of that belief through the oppression of one's subordinates. Prejudice plays a good amount of what people think of themselves. A “bad” self-image or a “too good” self-image can and will interpret the way specific people view others via prejudice. For example, some people living in Mexico believe that people living in the United States of America are smart and or overly privileged while some people living in the United States of America think of people living in Mexico as poor and or uneducated. Institutional prejudice and discrimination include unequal selection and bias, racism, and Stereotyped decisions. An institution being a society or organization founded on a religious, educational, social, or similar purpose. An example of institutional prejudice having to do with racism has to include the 1896 Plessy vs. Ferguson U.S. Supreme Court case, which ruled in favor of “separate but equal” public facilities between African Americans and Caucasian Americans. Many other countries also experience institutionalized prejudice and discrimination such as Saudi Arabia, in which case women and other oppressed groups aren’t allowed to participate in some religious activities, and can neither vote nor work in
