The Sandwich

I have searched endlessly to identify an aspect of life that embodied the core characteristics of honesty and integrity. Golf had me sold, and if it meant breaking out my grandfather’s old ping irons from the shed, well, then I was all in. The refreshing autumn air rested calmly on my face as I scaled the middle of the fairway, reaching for my sweet spot seven iron. Aligning my shot precisely, I darted the right side of the green leaving myself about a six foot putt. I had that swagger in my step as I approached the green, knowing that if I sink this putt I would capture a well deserved seventy-nine. Hesitantly in my shy voice I said “Excuse me ma’am I have a sand wedge here”. In her quick response she said “Yes honey, go ahead over there you can order a sandwich” with a line of customers waiting to check in. After the crowd had dwindled once again, I stepped out of line, approaching the woman once more. “Excuse me ma’am” she looked up and said “oh boy you again?”. I waved the club in front of her glasses, “a sand wedge”. She raised her glasses off of her eyes holding them between her thumb and index finger, “well isn’t this a beauty huh?”. I nodded and headed over to the doors. As my hand reached for the rustic metal handle, I took one last glimpse back at the older woman. In a humble voice I asked her for a job opportunity to work here. Knowing that I was still young, she promptly said “Come back when you're sixteen and I will hire …show more content…
Little did I know, I Nicholas George Regan, fourteen years of age, would be holding a crystal ball in my calist hands. The day I earned my license I returned to the course to see Betty Kennedy, come to find out that lady ran the place. Since then I have managed the cart barn, worked in the pro shop, and called the shots for her, three months out of the year, 92 days straight. Why?, because I’m simply dedicated, driven to succeed in anything I do. My grades are not necessarily an accurate representation of who I am as a person. Instead, I was passionate about directing my energy outside of the classroom. Working has always been a huge portion of me, not for the money, but rather to see a satisfaction from my owners, to see them at ease knowing someone like me was in charge, while respecting the power that came along with it. I always remained honorable, dedicated, and carried a strong amount of integrity throughout. This is why I would thrive at your university. Opportunity is everything as shown above, and I’m asking for you to give me an

When obviously unsafe actions occurred, neither officers or coworkers made any attempt to stop the behavior and it was only addressed by another firefighter not on duty. Multiple issues come into play in the scenario. Unsafe behaviors that are clearly in violation of departmental regulations, a lack of empowerment for individuals to speak up and question the actions, and a culture that does not make safety a priority all work together to foster a situation which is both dangerous and ignored. Departments must work toward an open and safety-oriented culture where opinions are respected and policies and procedures are utilized and taken seriously. Unit III Case Study…

I’ll never forget the moments of watching all my friends being able to go to the playground and enjoy themselves as I would have to walk to a different classroom to my ESOL class. ESOL was an English practicing class, it allowed for students that knew very few English and was a method for us to learn and practice our English. Towards the end of the class as we all headed back from recess, or in my case from ESOL I would have a short time to speak and talk to my friends, and they would always ask about my whereabouts. I would try to explain to them exactly where I was and what I would be doing, and I knew that they did not fully comprehend me, yet I still tried. I would attend my ESOL class all throughout the third grade, by the beginning of…
