The Same Sex Marriage Debate For a long time, people have defined marriages as the combination of two people from different sex, and they can get married when they fall in love with each other. However, homosexual marriages have become one of the controversial issues which has dramatic impacts on the marriage institution. According to the Collins Cobuild Intermediate Dictionary of American English, someone who is "homosexual" is "sexually attracted to people of the same sex" (Roehr). Therefore, there are the pros and cons between two sides on gay marriages, but both are trying to find the values to reach the common ground. Those who protest gay marriages assert that it ruins the basic institutions. First, it goes against the religion.

For example, those who assert that the gay marriages resist the bible can trust the God 's love. "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God" (English Standard Version, John. 4.7). Because God is love, he willingly wish someone 's love well. Similarly, if the gay marriage who decide to formalize their relationship under religion, God will be pleasure to wish their love too. For this reason, the religious people can accept the gay marriage as they believe in their God 's love, and the gay couples can live together without worrying about going against the bible. In conclusion, gay marriages have been being one of the most divisive controversial issues because both sides always have their own opinions to either support or oppose it. As a citizen of the United States, I would suggest a simple solution.
