The amount of support the educational system receives is growing every day. The more educators become aware of the many challenges our student and faculty face on a daily basis, the more advance the intervention methods will become. One of the newer intervention processes many school districts started integrate into their learner’s curriculum is the Response to Intervention process also called RTI. The RTI process incorporates a set of teaching procedures to help improve the skills students are having trouble in. However, since the RTI teaching strategy is still new, there are still a few concern on how effective this method with students. Response to Intervention is an alternative teaching method designed to help student reach mastery in struggled learning content areas (Response to Intervention1). The RTI process was designed to assist any student that may be struggling in a content area, including those who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities. On the other hand, many critics have their concerns about this intervention program. Some educators are concern that many students will be diagnosed with learning disabilities. All students learn differently and at different rates, consequently, some slower learning student could be diagnosed with a LD but in actuality, they are learning slower than others (RTI3). There is also the concern that this program will cause an increase in funding. In 1976, when LD was legitimized as a special education category, children with disabilities specifically learning disabilities increased from 2% in 1977 to 6% in 1999-2000(Fuchs4). With this evidence, schools are becoming more expensive, costing two to three times more to teach special education
