Introduction
Throughout the Arthurian legend, the Round Table has symbolized how much power King Arthur had. There were only one person that chose who can sit on this very table, and that was the one and only King Arthur. The sphere shape of the historical round table represents what Arthur was trying to complete for the people that saw him as an almost Christ like figure though his rule. The thirteen knights that sat around it were only the most kind (to women) of all knights and were a perfect role model of what the Arthur was tiring to represent with the Round Table. There was wars, (dangerous, wild person) groups together, plague, widespread death from starving, the(efforts to improve things or change things), and many other things. The (usual/commonly and regular/healthy) mode of operation was to take something by force. This is what the kings, knights and lords did. They fought, killed and took what they wanted. In short, there was little value placed on the people without power. Through this period of time there was a moving/changing in the ways of thinking of people and knighthood played an extremely important role in this moving/changing. Along with the development of kindness to women came the belief in the worth of the individual whether or not he held land or weapons. This Round Table is a good example of this raising of the people value. The round table was meant to shift power from just the king who (usually/in a common and regular way) sat at the head of the table and spoke so everyone listened. With a round table it was symbolic of the fact that all the people seated at the table had equal weight and equal say in matters. It was almost democratic. It wasn't a true (system or country where leaders are chosen by votes); the king was still the king and only knights were at the table, but it was a move toward the belief that every one is important and everyone equally …show more content…
