The catchment chosen to be researched is the Ross River found in the Townsville area of Northern Queensland, the river is approximately 49 kilometres in length and is the city’s main source of drinking water. The river is not only used for water, it is also a popular recreational location consisting of over 30 kilometres of shared pathways and numerous parks and bridges which stretch from the Twin Cities Bridge in Douglas to as far down to Rooney’s bridge, Railway Estate. It is also a prime location for boats, jet skis and other watercraft due to the Loam Island Boat Ramp.
