Analysis of inscription (RIB 1713) Vindolanda Inscription (RIB 1713) relates to a sandstone funerary headstone used as a building-stone found amongst debris associated with the east gate of Vindolanda fort in 1818 commemorating the life of Cornelius Victor (RIB 1713, Funerary inscription for Cornelius Victor, 2014). There is a degree of ambiguity in relation to his military position as a senior centurion. Victor is listed on the inscription as a singularis consularis ‘governor 's bodyguard’ either mounted (eques) or infantry (pedes), seconded from an auxiliary unit; he also served as a courier and special emissary (Glossary of military terms, 2014). If indeed he was a special emissary it supports the argument of a senior centurions’ position.…

Everyone had to live on top of each other which seems to me could have gotten very difficult at times. With all their houses being piled upon one another they seemed to be very well organized and a have VERY advanced society. They even buried the dead beneath their houses... sounds extremely terrifying to me. Men and women were equal in the labor department and they both had low life expectancies.…

The View of a Mindset A mindset controls your views, outlooks, and the way you approach situations in life. In Carol Dweck’s essay, “Excerpt from Self-theories: Their Role in Motivation, Personality, and Development”, Dweck shows the reader how a mindset can affect a person and ultimately set them up for success or failure. In Dweck’s essay she argues the differences between the fixed and growth oriented mindset. Dweck explains that the fixed mindset has a “carved in stone” perspective on things and feels the need to “prove yourself over and over”(86).
