The Rose Tattoo Play Analysis

I decided to go to the April 13, performance of Vanya and I do not know what to expect. I had to base what I did on my previous performance of The Rose Tattoo. However, even though they are different plays, with different actors, and plot my experience of getting to the performance was the same. There was a sense of urgency to get to the performance on time because it started at 7:30. It was not hard to find the venue and once I arrived, I seen other people from class and said hello. With the seating I believe people went to see the earlier shows so the seats were a pick of the litter. I could have sat anywhere, but I wanted to be up close in the front row next to Jessica, Austin and the people they brought.
When the play started there was a slight delay and it started 5 minutes after 7:30, there was a sense of anticipation. Waiting for the play to start and once it did I had to make a decision of who I wanted to choose to observe while watching the play. When Vanya started the lights went out, the music played, and then the lights came center. The actor I choose was Sonya whose character I liked throughout the play. Like with every movie or play it had to establish the story of the characters and the relationships they have in the plot. Vanya was a hard worker

It had its moments of: humor, drama, romance, and suspense. The humor came from Vanya when he was drinking with Astrov. The came from how I felt throughout the play because this is something that I am used too. The romance was from all of the characters with how they felt. Furthermore, in the passionate scene with Yelena and Astrov. The suspense was also from Vanya, when he had the syringe and not knowing what he was going to do. That scene was my second favorite and at one point I heard your voice in the play. Me and Austin looked at each other was like is that his

JAY DEFEO: THE ROSE Jay DeFeo’s The Rose is remarkable. Its dimensions of 10.7’ x 7.7’ x 11” and its weight of 1,850 pounds are unbelievable. The time--eight years--spent on creating this work is extraordinary. In my opinion, this alone merits The Rose’s inclusion in this and all other art history classes.…

On the evening of Saturday October 8th, the cast of the play Fuddy Meers took the stage and put on a unique and exquisite performance. The play took place in the Temple Theatre which I found was a highly interesting venue. There were several different elements that I found greatly intriguing during the course of the ninety minute performance, however, there were a few elements that I felt were also lacking. The first element that I believed helped to add significance to the performance was the stage setup(1). The revolving setup of the stage was perfect for this play and it allowed much versatility for the characters during specific instances.…

Furthermore, the stage setup was utilized well. With the stage in the middle, they had three sides of audience seats that surrounded the stage. I thought this set up made the play more interactive and able to focus on the main character more closely. The lighting for this play was used effectively as well.…

On Friday, April 13th at 8 pm, I went to go see a production of Heathers. This production was put on by the Berklee musical theater club and took place at the Boston Center for the Arts' Plaza Theater located at 539 Tremont Street in Boston. The theater itself was a black box, which I found interesting because I have never seen a show, especially a large well known show, be put on in such a small space. The stage itself was in the middle of the room and had no curtains. The pit of musicians from the Boston Conservatory were set up behind the simple and short stage.…

The stage design did a wonderful job of giving the audience a clear picture of what was going on in each act, and even the mood of the act. The props were well constructed, making them look real. The costumes were absolutely stunning. Each character was dressed in a way that portrayed what kind of personality they had and also boasted meticulously done face painting that made them look like people of the dead. All in all I couldn’t have been happier with the costumes of each and every character.…

I thought the play was well written well played and the actors really did an awesome job of grabbing my attention. The actors acting from the emotionally standpoint was very well played with the crying and you could even feel it during their soliloquy songs as if what was displayed in the musical actually happened to them which was very good. Also, the singing was very good, the actors’ vocals had good harmony pitch and volume making it tolerable. The audience laughed at the jokes and for some reason they clapped at the end of each scene but my knowledge of live plays are limited as it was my first one. Most of the audience stayed after the show to meet the actors and tell them what a good job they did.…

Stupid F- - -ing Bird is a very interactive and well performed play, which emphasizes on the daily struggles of artists, family and other human relationships. The production of this performance was made possible by the courtesy of the department of theater at the Ohio State University. The play was directed by Maureen Ryan and produced by Lesley Ferris. Equally important was the unique clothing used by the characters specially Blanche, Stella, and Eunice. Rumors has it that some of the dresses used where handmade which is really impressive, considering that making clothes is difficult and time-consuming. Some characteristics that make a play great is the use of music, sound effects, and lighting. Surprisingly enough, the director was able to coordinate the sound and lighting team to provide an emotional take on the play to connect with the audience effectively which in my opinion, that goal was well accomplished. The use of lighting used made the atmosphere more realistic, for instance, when Blanche and Mitch went on a date, the lighting used was blue and dull to imply that it…

The spotlight was on Mr. Rivas as he walked onto the stage to give his mini pre show speech and introduced the show. The audience clapped as the wings opened; the show has started. People were coming onto the stage each pair that came up had smiles on their faces, happy about life, until society walks in and controls them.…

The set provided the audience at first glance that the environment did not seem very safe but it was very unstable. It looked as if the set was hiding something from the audience with the way that only certain things were covered up to make it look like the building or windows. I think that had a very big characteristic on this play because throughout the play you realized that the company the radium girls worked at were also hiding a secret. I liked the use of painting for the floor. The light part that was not covered with gray paint gave the audience a better focus point as to where the characters were and it was easy to find them after the lights came back on.…
