Visiting the Rope's Mansion, I personally learned a lot about the history of America. The mansion taught me, even though our history didn’t carry a lot of technology like today's generation, people who were wealthy lived a rich lifestyle similar to today's society. The Rope's mansion had carried a big part in the women's history. The mansion is located on 318 Essex Street.
The Ropes Mansion was built in 1727. Nathaniel Ropes II was the first person in the family who purchased the house in 1768, and was remembered until the 20th century. The owners of the house opened up their home as a museum in 1912, featuring a well-made collection of furniture and some amazing works of art that has never left the mansion.
The mansion holds 15 rooms. On the first floor, the dining room is set as it would when a guest would arrive at your own house. it looked a little different then how the dinner table would look like now. Then next to the dining room there is a tiny room that shows where the parlor maid and cook would keep all of the glassware like teacup, dishes, wine glass and so much more. Then as you walk in the far back of the 1'st floor there is a kitchen where they cook and a small alley looking room where they keep all of the pots and specula to use it for cooking.
As you walk up the stairs, that’s where you will learn about the present tales of marriage, housekeeping and child rearing, and also an illness and death within the family. There are toys, books, and a seashell collection of Elizabeth Ropes. Elizabeth Ropes had died of tuberculosis at the age of 24. While walking on the 2nd floor you will get to open drawers, trunks and desks. The floors appear to have expansive carpet, beds with vibrant colors and textures to the home, and a 1894 period bathroom to look at, and experience how it looked
