Stevens said that women typically view money as a source of enjoyment, pleasure, and security. Uzoka noted that men take a differing view of money and see it as a measure of their manhood. Money is often tied to a man's self-worth.
The consequences of a man not earning what he feels is enough to take care of a woman has all sorts of implications. Many men will not even approach a woman if he doesn't feel he can provide for her. Stevens said that women understand this, but they don't like it. In fact, she says that women do not want money to be a part of the first couple dates. They don't mind being treated nicely, but men that put too much money up front are often viewed as trying to hide some other shortcoming or insecurity. She suggests offering the woman some options that fits into the budget.
