The Roman Empire: The Fall Of Rome

The Roman Empire is one of the most fascinating, and well known empires. Many of the greatest leaders and inventors were from the Roman Empire. Jeffrey Chaucer once said “All great things must come to an end” which is exactly what happened to Rome. Ancient Rome was a huge empire and they conquered many countries. Unfortunately because of many reasons the empire fell. The reasons were because the emperors were very greedy and they were all unfit for the job of being the ruler of Rome. The only way you could be the emperor is if you inherited it from your father. If anybody in Rome that were rich wanted there sons to be emperor or if they did not like the ruler they paid the Praetorian guards to assassinate the empress. This caused famine and forced farmers to migrate into the city. However, in the city,everyone had less money because they had to pay taxes for the increased salary demands by the legions. Goods were also disappearing from people's boats and because the pirates were stealing their food on the Mediterranean Sea. The Romans were raising tariffs on imported goods because the legions wanted to make more money. People were losing money because they were bartering instead of paying cash.
