Wouldn’t it be cool if Macbeth had a mustache like Jean-Claude Duvalier? Macbeth was a Scottish general for the king of Scotland, Duncan. Macbeth was also the Thane of Glamis. Three witches predicted the future for Macbeth and said that he would later be the king of Scotland which he took it into his own hands to get to that point. On the other hand, dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier was the youngest president in the world and ruled Haiti after his father, François Duvalier, died. Jean-Claude ruled from April 22, 1971 until February 7, 1986, when he was forced to flee from Haiti. Macbeth used his power to have murderers kill Banquo, the commander of Duncan’s army,and Fleance, Banquo’s son, because they were suspicious about the death of Duncan. They had a feeling that Macbeth killed him. Macbeth was afraid that Banquo and his son would tell everyone in Scotland and that he would lose his power or be executed. Macbeth then had murderers kill Banquo and Fleance and told the murderers, “Within this hour at most I will advise you where to plant yourselves...and with him, Fleance, his son, that keeps him company,: (iii.i.146-148, 152-154), however, Fleance escaped. On the other hand, Jean-Claude used his power to marry Michelle Bennett who was the daughter of a wealthy coffee merchant. Their wedding cost seven million dollars in a Catholic cathedral. He also used his power to steal money from Haitians for himself and his family. Another way he got money was from the Regie du Tabac which was a Tobacco Foundation. Both dictators are different in the way that they used their power.
