Communication is not subjective to just one form: verbal communication. There are other forms of communication such as non-verbal and written communication. Texting is one of the many implications of written communication that is very popular in today’s society, especially in teenagers. Also, although written communication is very popular, it is not the most effective form of communication.
In an article by sterling college students called “Effect of classroom cell phone use on expected and actual learning.” A group of students conducted two experiments researching the correlation between cell phone distraction in class and their performance on test scores. In the first study, they conducted a survey that “assesses students’ cell phone activity in class and their expectations of the effects of such activity on learning outcome.” (Froese et al . , 2012) Basically the survey would ask you how often you check your phone or text a day, and how much do you expect it to affect your understanding of what you are learning if you were expected to take a quiz or a test. To calculate how cell phones affects your learning, they would ask, “If you were listening to some information and someone asked you 10 factual questions, you might be able to correctly answer?” (Froese et al . , 2012) But there are two conditions to this question.
