The Role Of Ww1 In The Great Gatsby

The time period between 1915 and 1935 was greatly affected by WW1 and the Great Depression. The three modernist authors such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Faulkner, and Willa Cather all played important roles by reflecting the ideas, values, and themes of this historical period with their writing. Firtst, the well known author F. Scott Fitzgerald was mostly know for his book, The Great Gatsby. The Great Gatsby is about a time in the 1920's when everyone was happy and had a carefree attitude. The reason that The Great Gatsbyis connected to the early 1900's is beacuse this was the time period that F. Scott Fitzgerald was experiencing for himself. The Great Depression was just right around the corner and the people were not ready for it. The Great Depression had a huge impact on the economy and the people. F. Scott Fitzgereald did a good thing by writing The Great Gatsby to remind people of how life was before everything all went down hill. Her books focused mainly on the life on the pioneers, and how harsh it really was for them. People from this time period moved around often to either find better jobs, have better land, or even to leave the pioneer life to move into the city.
