The Quran seems to tell men that women are unclean especially during menstruation declares, “Menstruation is a painful condition, so keep away from women during it. Do not approach them until they are cleansed; when they are cleansed, you may approach them as God has directed you.” (Sura 4:43) This furthers the consideration that women are an inferior race. The Quran also goes on to say, “If you fear that you will not deal fairly with orphan girls, you may marry whichever other women seem good to you, two, three, or four.” (Sura 4:3) This illustrates that men are more than women; they deserve multiple women to satiate their needs. Moreover, the Quran allows for having sexual relations with slaves explaining, “Do not marry women that your fathers married … women already married, other than your slaves.” (Sura 4:23 - 24) It is saying that a man can marry his slave even if she is married, just claiming her as his property. Exodus talks about marriage and slavery similarly saying “If [slaves] master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s and he shall go out alone.” This makes no mention on whether or not the female slave wants to marry him or bear him kids, it is just expected. Even after she does that she does not get to be set free after the six years as the male slave can. To make this issue even worse Exodus allows fathers to sell their daughters as slaves affirming, “When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do. If she does not please her master,..; he shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt unfairly with her.” (Exodus 21:7 - 8) That comment combined with the last quote could mean that a daughter of one man could be wed off to a male slave without consent, although it does stop the re-selling of her
