“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is a play by William Shakespeare. This play has an array of different Characters. In Act I Scene I many characters are introduced such as: Theseus, Hippolyta, Egeus, Hermina, Lysander, Demetrius, and Helena. Theseus is the duke of Athens and everyone looks up to him. He attitude is very authoritative and commanding. Hippolyta is queen of the amazons who happens to be betroth to Theseus. Hippolyta character is express the same characteristics as Theseus but uses it in a more nurturing manor. Egeus is the father of Hermina. His demeaner is very protective and wants the best for his daughter. Lysander and Demetrius are two men who are fighting for Hermina’s hand in marriage. Lysander and Demetrius are both different

There are many reason this play should be consider a romantic comedy. Two main reason is that this play does not mean the qualification to either a comedic play or a romantic play. This play express both these elements of romance and comedy, so the proper genre is to combine both to form a romantic comedy. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” fit the Romantic Comedy genre perfectly because it plays with both elements. This play with express the comedic element when Puck mistakenly puts a spell on Lysander rather than on Demetrius. Then later to spell them both but the problem is that they both fall for Helena. This then creates a problem for Helena and Hermina because their roles have revered. Helena has two men fighting for her and for Hermina no one wants her. Romance is then introduced after all this chaos is resolved. Oberon commands Puck to fix his mistakes and make it right. Puck fixes his wrong doing and put the four under a sleep spell to reverse everything to make things correct. This then Makes Lysander and Hermia for in love with each other and Demetrius and Helena fall in love. When they wake they find Theseus and Hippolyta staring down at them. They all go back together to the palace and enjoy they love and their rest of their lives
