Beowulf is a poem that revolves around three main battles. Beowulf was a Geat who went to save the King of the Danes named Hrogthar. The reason the King needs to be saved is because his land is being attacked by a monster named Grendel. The role of the mead hall was a place were Hrogthar and his troops would meet. They would meet here because this was a place where they all came to eat, strategize for battles and listen to entertainers. The mead hall stands for more than just a place to eat and drink it stands as a symbol of unity and brotherhood. It is a place for a king to ¨show off his gold¨. It is an important piece in the book because it is where all the planning to attack the beast is created.
