In Rules of Prey the criminal disguises himself as someone else to his victims, knocks them out, rapes them and then kills them. The police haven’t been able to find him, because he follows a set of rules, which leaves at the crime scene for police to find. Lucas Davenport, one of the detectives working on the case to catch the criminal, known as ‘Maddog’, gives a report about the case to a reporter saying, “We’ve got a serial killer. He killed his third victim today. Rapes them and then stabs them to death.” The Maddog has been killing people and doing it carefully. He’s even read books on serial killers and how people perceive them and other things. One of the important clues to Maddog being caught was one of his victims getting away. Carla
