ICRC is called SPR (Suomen Punainen Risti, Finnish Red Cross) in Finland. They are doing work locally in Finland and also globally all around the world. In Finland they do a lot of prevention work with young and unemployed people. Also they are helping poor people by giving them food and clothes. In addition, they are organizing and teaching first aid skill courses and organizing blood donation in Finland. Volunteer workers of SPR in Finland work in over 500 local branches. Finnish Red Cross work-ers are helping people in different accidents and crises (situations including fire dam-ages, natural disasters, traffic accidents, being a victim of crime and disasters). It seems that the world situation is going worse. There are wars and conflicts around the world and more people who need help. More refugees, more homeless and sick people who have nothing left, even food, clothes, medicine or clean water. There are more refugees all over the world who are experiencing cri-sis and need help and support. For example in Finland government doesn’t have any extra money to help people with so there are more people needing help. Therefore organizations such as ICRC have to act. In my opinion, governments should help more but obviously they can´t and health organizations have to do their govern-ment’s jobs. I think organizations are quite significant already. That’s good, we need them also but governments have to do something for this bad …show more content…
I could do volunteer work here in Finland, but that doesn’t demand my knowledge, working skills or work-ing experience. In Finland I could work in SPR with blood donors as a nurse.
Or I could just join them as a delegate worker if my life situation allows it. At the moment it doesn´t allow. The Red Cross delegates work all around the world and deliver aid where it is needed the most. Delegate workers are working in disaster ar-eas and also in different kind of long-term development co-operation projects. To be a delegate worker could be quite hard because they have to see many difficulties but also they are one of the first people to help. ICRC is looking for nurses, engineers, midwifes, doctors and so on. So I could work there as a delegate nurse or midwife. (Finnish Red Cross 2014 - 4.)
ICRC is choosing suitable delegates from their personnel reserve when it´s needed. People can join ICRC reserves after they have passed their training course. Finnish Red Cross is organizing the course and there the teaching language will be English. From the delegate reserve, ICRC can pick delegate at any moment to work any-where in the world. (Finnish Red Cross 2014 -

I have utilized the SBAR several times this semester during my clinical experience. “SBAR was intended for nurse-physician communication under urgent conditions, but its use is recommended to improve staff communication during shift reports and rounds as well” (Cornell et al., 2014, p. 341). One particular situation that comes to mind in which I used SBAR was when I had a patient that had a Gaslow Coma Scale (GCS) of six during my morning assessment. The patient had been off sedation for over twenty-four hours. I notified the intensivist and gave him the patient’s current situation, the patient’s background of pneumonia that resulted in intubation in the ED, the patient’s current assessment (GCS, lungs, vent settings, and labs) reported, and I recommended neurologic diagnostics to evaluate the brain, and asked the physician to advise on the patient’s plan of care.…

Globalization’s impact on public health has been both positive and negative at a seemingly equal rate. The “disappearing” of boarders has lead to the sharing of ideas, goods, resources, technology, etc., that have been able to increase the quality of life and ability to combat sickness and disease for the populations of developed countries. Meanwhile non-developed countries have had an increasingly harder time gaining access to these innovations despite the availability of remedies for ailments their members face. This is disparity is especially troubling considering the global spread of disease and other public health issues. The ease of international travel and trade allows for diseases such as AIDS, SARS, and recently Ebola to penetrate…

An immediate and perhaps unprecedented action has to occur to react to the unprecedented amount of people in dire need of necessities.…
