This essay is going to be about two articles called “The Amazing Penguin Rescue” (Lauren Tarshis) and “Saving Penguins, One Sweater At A Time” (Kristin Lewis). Did you know that little penguins are a species of penguin, so named because they can range anywhere from 10 to 12 inches tall (Kristin Lewis). When oil gets on penguins their feathers clump up, when this happens it exposes their skin and allows all the cold water and poisonous oil to get to their skin and make them cold (Lauren Tarshis 16). The penguins from “ The Amazing Penguin Rescue” and “ Saving Penguins, One Sweater At A Time” should be brought to a zoo close to home because it can prevent them from dying from poisonous oil spill when searching for food.…

Although the reading passage was correct for the time it was written , new data presented in the lecture discredits all of it’s assumptions that emperor penguins are monogamous, they return to the one rookery for nesting and they are safe in modern world. As for the first approach, greater observations figured out that both monogamous and polygamous lifestyles are possible for penguins, but the second variant is met only in 15 percent of cases. Moreover, the only place for laying eggs was also a mistake because the recent research of Institute of Minnesota fixed six cases when animals had altered their rookery.…

Elizabeth Kolbert interprets the idea of destruction through global warming in her article “The Forest and the Trees”. “Global warming is mostly seen as a threat to cold-loving species, and there are good reasons for this” (Kolbert 150). Mostly, global warming results in increased temperature which will cause the North and South Pole to melt.…

As many of you have noticed nature happens on its own, the Sea Lions have not been treated well lately, they have been getting blamed for something that is not their fault! Due to climate changes the sea lions have been eating so many salmon because of how they reacted to the weather changes, how the weather has increased its temperature so highly. A fact that I once read and legally changed my mind said “Killing sea lions will not change the future for the salmon, it will simply distract attention from the fact that the greatest challenges to salmon recovery are not being addressed”. In most articles that I have read there are mostly negative facts towards the sea lion’s.…

Although the three sources all explain an oil spill affecting the penguins, they conveyed the volunteers' dedication throughout the rescue effort. In the first article, Tarshis portrays the difficulty of capturing and feeding the penguins…

Scientists that study climate change and greenhouse gases conclude that “we now have overwhelming evidence that human emission of greenhouse gases has already begun to change the climate and it will continue to do so unless emissions are halted” (Oppenheimer and Antilla-Hughes). This quote proves that the emissions of greenhouse gases is the utmost factor in climate change. If we do not do anything about climate change now and continue to contribute to this global problem, future generations will be affected extremely negatively. The changes in precipitation that are created by climate change will cause some places in the world to become drier and other places much wetter. This means that the water will not be dispersed evenly anymore, leaving families in the dry without water access or rising water prices that will definitely not be affordable to the poor.…

Although animals might struggle to live under the two effects above of global warming for now, animal species completely cannot make it through for the rest of their lifetime because animals cannot improve their bodies’ structures to adapt the change in their habitat. For this effect, cold-blooded animals are specific examples; according to the article “Amphibians Don’t Cozy Up to Warmer Climes,” based on the information of researchers at Stony Brook University, warmer environment shortens cold-blooded animals’ duration such as fishes, amphibians, crustaceans, and lizards because the constructions of their bodies are more appropriate for the cold environment (Leonard, page2). While global warming continues to affect animals’ lifespan, everyone can tell extinctions will possibly happen soon for a great number of animal…
