In order to assess the adoption and implement of TIC in health organizations there needs to be an instrument to measure progress. Bassuk, Unick, Paquette and Richard (2017) developed a measurement tool called the TICOMETER. The instrument is useful to determine organization development and training needs, monitor the progress and conduct systematic research and evaluation. Understanding the practices within the service organization will help to develop interventions, trainings and understanding of how TIC impacts patient outcomes. In order to use TIC, health care organizations, need to determine which interventions are working and what needs to be changed. TIC policy is relevant for public health policy when addressing social problems related to trauma, such as violence, homelessness, addiction and chronic disease. (Bowen & Murshid, 2016). TIC requires awareness of trauma and its effects but ultimately requires awareness of the interplay of trauma with interactions with services and ideally, a service wide commitment is made to reducing iatrogenic harm and re-traumatization occurring in the care setting (Isobel & Edwards, 2016). This strength based approach should be adapted for every client that seeks medical treatment. Recovery from past trauma should be a primary therapeutic goal provided in a dynamic, respectful and culturally competent manor. A trauma informed program validates the client’s struggles which can help to increase their sense of safety and security. Interpersonal violence impacts a person’s identity, relationships, expectations of others, taints the world view and ability to regulate one’s emotion. Nurses utilizing TIC ensure the physical and emotional safety, empower the client to make decisions and acknowledge their
