Rhea was a greek goddess, who was a mother and husband of some of the most famous greek gods, and who is represented of the mother of the gods. She can otherwise be known as Rhiea. She is known as the titaness, mother of the gods, goddess of female fertility, motherhood, and generation. She was the daughter of Uranus, the sky god, and Gaea, goddess of the earth. Rhea then got married to her brother Cronos and had six children. The children they had were named Hestia, Hades, Demeter, Poseidon, Hera, and Zeus. These six children grew up to be known as some of the most famous greek mythology gods ever.
Rhea´s most famous story is about her six children. Cronus ate all of them except Zeus. He ate all of them because Rhea's parents, Uranus and Gaea, told him that one day they will be like him. He overthrew his parents and he didn't want to be overthrown in the future. When Zeus was about to be born Rhea went to her parents for some help on how to save him. Her plan was to give birth to Zeus in Crete and when she handed the baby to Cronus he would eat a rock wrapped in swaddling clothes. Zeus was hid in a cave on Mount Ida in Crete. Without Rhea their wouldn't have been Hestia, virgin goddess of the hearth, Hades, god of the underworld, Demeter, goddess of the harvest and agriculture, Poseidon, god of the sea and other waters, Hera, goddess of women and marriage, and lastly Zeus, the sky and thunder god.
