The popular media emphasise the how and why the white dominant society race coloured ones poorly and also show the process of people overcoming racial problems. These are related to the recent context of Barack Obama elected as the president of the USA in 2008 throughout a number of racial discriminations and stereotypes in skin colours. The three popular media are “Remember the Titans”, “Creed” and “Pele –Birth of a Legend-‘’, each popular media represents different racial problems.
The movie “Remember the Titans,” produced by Jerry Bruckheimer tells a story about a group of American football students who can’t seem to get along, with growing racial tensions within the school community. The film was released in 1971, and it explores several controversial issues including racism and discrimination among mixed- race athletes. The story is based on the famous soccer player Pele’s life, who positively changed the world’s perspective on the Brazilian football and the coloured players. Back in the time, the community had negative stereotypes on the Brazilian team’s special play called “Ginga” which was Brazilian football’s honour and soul that it caused the team loss in 1950 World CUP finals. The loss leads the Brazilian football to get discriminated and stereotypes by the other countries. However as the Pele plays his strong Ginga, the entire team overcome the stereotype and they started to play Ginga again which leads the team win in 1958 World CUP
