The first source dives into the issue of lawful discrimination of black people while driving (Bell, Hopson , Craig, & Robinson, 2014). Driving while black is when a person is profiled and pulled over because of their skin tone and asked for identification. This is allowed even though there were no traffic laws broken. This is not only legal, but encouraged by laws. This is allowed to help assist officers find illegal immigrants. This source is important in establishing concrete examples of modern discrimination. The paper must prove discrimination does indeed exist in the modern world, before it may prove that it affects those people psychologically.
This journal contains an experiment to prove that racial profiling actually increases crime rates (Hackney & Glaser, 2013). The theory is that since the police are too busy focusing on specific characteristics, they are missing the crime that is actually being committed. In this journal, the author explains how the harsh judgements of sexuality are not only from men, but women as well. This journal illustrates how women may judge class from a woman’s sexuality. The race of the woman further distinguishes, what is perceived as her natural characteristics. This words such as nice, lovely, etc… apply to white women and insinuate that black women are the opposite by nature. This all indicates a hierarchy within the sex created by each group. Further, this shows how even marginalized groups, adhere to the hierarchy of status, because it allows them to be superior.
