Columbus experienced African Americans which was an element to how the race was designed. The race was set by an arrangement of standards and a hierarchy where individuals were determined to a scale contingent upon their race. The shade of individuals' skin and their social convictions are what set up race. Race in the American West was based off specific rights and if the general population in the American West amid this time weren't considered completely white they were separated in American social orders.
