Propaganda plays a significant role in Animal Farm. It is used to gain power and control over the animals. Although this book is an allegory of the former USSR, propaganda still occurs today. “‘… Milk and apples (this has been proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig …’” (Orwell 23), is a great example of the Pigs manipulation of information and use of the animals fear to allow themselves greater luxuries and benefits than the others.
